Hi there#

I’m Dominik Wilkowski, a software engineer and engineering manager based in Australia.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a software engineer at different workplaces, including digital agencies and consultancies, Westpac, one of Australia’s four largest banks, and the federal government’s DTO. Eventually, my passion for building great software led me to build great teams as a manager, where I’ve held various engineering leadership roles at companies like Shopify. I currently serve as the CTO at The Working Party.

As I’ve transitioned into leadership, I’ve remained deeply connected to coding, dedicating time daily to personal projects and technical exploration. This blog is a chronicle of my ongoing coding adventures, and write-ups of tutorials I’ve given to teams about a technology.

This site was built with Hugo, forked from tomfran/typo and is open-source.

  • Sometimes progress looks like standing still. In software, that pause, the decision to improve what already exists rather than chase what’s next, is often the difference between systems that endure and those that collapse under their own weight.
This post explores why slowing down to strengthen the foundation is one of the most powerful moves a technology company can make.
